Experts Discuss Crude Oil

International experts stage a heated discussion on the ongoing oil crisis in Dublin.
“Oil is truly reaching boiling point,” says Bill Hubard, a former CNBC commentator and expert on trading commodities. Hubard, Chief economist at MIG Investments, was speaking about oil speculation at a free seminar entitled “Oil- holding the world to ransom?“ hosted by paddypowertrader.
Over 100 eager spread bettors attended the event where two of the top industry experts went head to head to debate the recent market volatility of oil. The role of oil in the world markets and its effect on the global economy inspired the conference on oil prices. Retail investors have plenty of opportunities through financial spread betting in the commodities arena. The sharp rise in the price of crude oil by over 60% in the past six months has affected many stakeholders in Ireland including Irish spread bettors.
“Speculation is not just a part of the problem but a part of the solution.” says Hubard. “Ben Bernanke spoke earlier this week about the oil market being unable to exist without these traders. We are in an era of economic instability where the only certain thing is uncertainty”, Hubard added.
Dave Horgan, managing director of Petrel Resources, an Irish Crude Oil producer led the counter argument that speculation and the movement of hot money in the market was contributing adversely to stablilised oil pricing. Hogan presented on “Oil on the boil”, a treatise on the current geopolitical stability and other issues affecting oil production.
“The problem of rising oil prices is something affecting 90% of the population in Ireland whether it is the impact on energy, transport or fertiliser costs.
