1. How to Spread Bet on Apache shares?
Looking at the equities markets, at the moment, the price of the Apache Rolling Daily market is $102.08 - $102.27 with companies such as FinancialSpreads.
Like the majority of leading equities listed on the exchanges, investors can speculate on the Apache shares to go up or go down in value. With the Apache Rolling Daily market, an investor can bet on:
a) Apache shares to move higher than $102.27, or
b) Apache shares to move lower than $102.08.
It should be noted that with the Apache market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1¢ of Apache share movement. Considering an example, if you invested £2 per cent and the Apache share price moves 5¢ then your profits (or losses) would change by £10.
Apache Equities Trading Example
For example, let’s say you see the live price on a spread betting website that gives the current spread of $102.08 - $102.27. After your analysis, you come to think that the Apache share price will move higher than $102.27. As a result:
- You believe that the Apache shares should go up
- Therefore, you decide you want to go long of the market at $102.27 and you risk £1 per cent
- The market rises with the spread moving to $103.70 - $103.89
- With this new spread you might decide to take a profit and close your position. To do this you would sell at $103.70
- Initial buy price: $102.27
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = ($103.70 - $102.27) x £1 per cent
- P&L = $1.43 x £1 per cent
- P&L = 143¢ x £1 per cent
- P&L = £143 profit
Spread trading does not always go to plan. If the trade didn’t work as planned, and had the Apache stock decreased in price, with the spread dropping to $100.94 - $101.13, then you could choose to settle your bet and prevent further losses. In order to do this you would sell at $100.94.
- Buy price = $102.27
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = ($100.94 - $102.27) x £1 per cent
- P&L = -$1.33 x £1 per cent
- P&L = -133¢ x £1 per cent
- P&L = -£133 loss
