1. How to Spread Bet on ASML shares?
At the moment, the price of the ASML Rolling Daily market is €28.02 - €28.10 with spread betting companies such as Tradefair.
As with the majority of European equities listed on the exchanges, investors can spread bet on the ASML shares to go up or down. With the ASML Rolling Daily market, you can speculate on:
a) ASML shares to rise above €28.10, or
b) ASML shares to fall below €28.02.
With the ASML market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1c of ASML share movement. For example, if you had a stake of £6 per cent and the ASML shares move 5c then your profits (or losses) would change by £30.
ASML Equities Spread Trading Example
Considering an example, let’s assume you see the live price on an online spread trading website and it shows a spread of €28.02 - €28.10. So, following your analysis, you could come to think that the ASML shares will go above €28.10. Therefore:
- You think the ASML share price should rise
- As a result, you decide you are going to ‘buy’ the market at €28.10 and invest £3 per cent
- The price of the shares rises with the spread moving to €28.44 - €28.52
- With the new spread you might decide to take a profit and close your position. To do this you would sell at €28.44
- Initial buy price: €28.10
- Profits (or losses) = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- Profits (or losses) = (€28.44 - €28.10) x £3 per cent
- Profits (or losses) = €0.34 x £3 per cent
- Profits (or losses) = 34c x £3 per cent
- Profits (or losses) = £102 profit
Investing does not always go to plan. Had the market failed to move as forecast, and had the ASML stock decreased in value, with the market moving down to €27.68 - €27.76, then you can decide to close your bet and prevent further losses. In order to do this you would sell at €27.68.
- Price you bought the market at: €28.10
- Profits (or losses) = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- Profits (or losses) = (€27.68 - €28.10) x £3 per cent
- Profits (or losses) = -€0.42 x £3 per cent
- Profits (or losses) = -42c x £3 per cent
- Profits (or losses) = -£126 loss
