1. How to Spread Bet on Cadbury shares?
As with many financial markets, traders can financial spread bet on the future value of Cadbury shares. That is to say, investors can trade on the share price increasing or decreasing.

With the Cadbury (December) market, which closes on 15-Dec-09, you can spread bet on:
A) Cadbury shares to finish higher than 565.3p on the closing date, or
B) Cadbury shares to finish lower than 563.2p on the closing date.
With the Cadbury market you trade in £X per penny, where a penny is 1p of Cadbury movement. eg If your stake was £10 per penny and the Cadbury shares move 8p then that would be an £80 difference to your P&L.
Cadbury Share Trading Example
So let's say you check the live price on an online spread betting service like FinancialSpreads.com, which quotes you 563.2 - 565.3, and you feel that the Cadbury share market appears as though it will settle above 565.3p on the closing date.
- You think the Cadbury should go up
- Therefore, you 'buy' at 565.3p and risk £5 per penny
- The share price increases
- The price settles at 580p
- You bought the spread at 565.3p
- Profit and loss = (closing price - opening level) x stake
- Profit and loss = (580.0p - 565.3p) x £5 per penny stake
- Profit and loss = 14.7p x £5 per penny stake
- Profit and loss = £73.50
Of course, if the trade did not work as expected, with the Cadbury stock going against you and finishing lower at 550p, then you would have lost money on your investment.
- Price you bought the spread at 565.3p
- Profit and loss = (closing price - opening level) x stake
- Profit and loss = (550.0p - 565.3p) x £5 per penny stake
- Profit and loss = -15.3p x £5 per penny stake
- Profit and loss = -£76.50
