1. How to Spread Bet on DSM shares?
Looking at the equities markets, at the moment, the price of the DSM Rolling Daily market is €38.96 - €39.06 with firms like Capital Spreads.
As with the majority of European equities listed on the exchanges, investors can spread bet on the DSM shares to rise or fall. With the DSM Rolling Daily market, an investor can speculate on:
a) DSM shares to go above €39.06, or
b) DSM shares to go below €38.96.
Note that with the DSM market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1c of DSM share price movement. As a quick example, if you were to invest £4 per cent and the DSM shares move 5c then your profits/losses would alter by £20.
DSM Equities Spread Betting Example
As an example, let’s assume you see the live price on a spread betting website and it gives a spread of €38.96 - €39.06. So, having done your research, you come to think that the DSM shares will go above €39.06. This means:
- You believe the DSM share price will go up
- As a result, you decide you are going to ‘buy’ the market at €39.06 and risk £2 per cent
- The market rises and so the spread moves to €39.84 - €39.94
- With the new spread you can choose to guarantee a profit and settle your bet. To do this you would sell at €39.84
- You bought the spread at €39.06
- P&L = (Final Level - Initial Level) x stake
- P&L = (€39.84 - €39.06) x £2 per cent
- P&L = €0.78 x £2 per cent
- P&L = 78c x £2 per cent
- P&L = £156 profit
However, had the market failed to move as planned, and had the DSM shares decreased in value, with the market going down to €38.34 - €38.44, then you can decide to close your position and prevent any further losses. You would do this by selling at €38.34.
- Initial buy price: €39.06
- P&L = (Final Level - Initial Level) x stake
- P&L = (€38.34 - €39.06) x £2 per cent
- P&L = -€0.72 x £2 per cent
- P&L = -72c x £2 per cent
- P&L = -£144 loss
