1. How to Spread Bet on Du Pont shares?

- Initial buy price = $32.22
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = ($32.85 - $32.22) x £2 per cent
- P&L = $0.63 x £2 per cent
- P&L = 63¢ x £2 per cent
- P&L = £126 profit
Investing does not always go to plan. Had the market failed to move as forecasted, and had the Du Pont stock decreased in price, with the spread moving down to $31.66 - $31.72, then you could decide to settle your bet and stop any more losses. To do this you would sell at $31.66.
- You bought the market at $32.22
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = ($31.66 - $32.22) x £2 per cent
- P&L = -$0.56 x £2 per cent
- P&L = -56¢ x £2 per cent
- P&L = -£112 loss
