What Currencies Can I Spread Bet In?
Note that with the above spread betting companies you can spread bet on any of the markets they offer, including Dutch shares, in either Pounds, Euros or Dollars, e.g. £2 per point, $3 per point, €5 per point etc.

How Do I Spread Bet on Dutch Shares?
At the moment, the price of the ING Rolling Daily market is €8.96 - €9.00 with Paddypowertrader.
As with many shares listed on the European exchanges, an investor can place a spread bet on the ING shares to go up or go down. With this ING Rolling Daily market, investors can speculate on:
a) ING shares to go higher than €9.00, or
b) ING shares to go lower than €8.96.
With the ING market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1c of ING share price movement. For example, if you were to invest £10 per cent and the ING share price moved 5c then your profits (or losses) would change by £50.
ING Shares Spread Betting Example
Considering an example, let’s assume you see the real time price on a spread betting website that shows the spread of €8.96 - €9.00. After suitable analysis of the markets, you feel that the ING share price will increase and go higher than €9.00. This means:
- You believe that the ING shares should go up
- You decide you want to go long of the market at €9.00 and you risk £5 per cent
- The market rises and the spread becomes €9.20 - €9.24
- As a result, you may choose to take a profit and close your bet by selling at €9.20
- You bought the spread at €9.00
- Profits (or losses) = (Settlement Value - Opening Value) x stake
- Profits (or losses) = (€9.20 - €9.00) x £5 per cent stake
- Profits (or losses) = €0.20 x £5 per cent stake
- Profits (or losses) = 20c x £5 per cent stake
- Profits (or losses) = £100 profit
Nevertheless, if the trade did not move as planned, and had the ING shares decreased in value, with the spread moving down to €8.77 - €8.81, then you can decide to settle your bet and stop any more losses. To do this you would sell at €8.77.
- You initially bought the spread at €9.00
- Profits (or losses) = (Settlement Value - Opening Value) x stake
- Profits (or losses) = (€8.77 - €9.00) x £5 per cent stake
- Profits (or losses) = -€0.23 x £5 per cent stake
- Profits (or losses) = -23c x £5 per cent stake
- Profits (or losses) = -£115 loss
