1. How to Spread Bet on KPN shares?
Currently, the price of the KPN Rolling Daily market is €10.97 - €11.00 with Paddypowertrader.
As with most large cap shares listed on the European stock exchanges, investors can bet on the KPN shares to rise or fall. With the KPN Rolling Daily market, you can place a spread bet on:
a) KPN shares to go higher than €11.00, or
b) KPN shares to go lower than €10.97.
With the KPN market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1c of KPN share movement. As an example, if your stake was £10 per cent and the KPN stock moved 5c then that would be a difference to your profits (or losses) of £50.
KPN Equities Spread Betting Example
Considering an example, let’s say you see the real time price on a spread betting website and it gives the current spread of €10.97 - €11.00. So, following your analysis of the markets, you could feel that the KPN shares could go higher than €11.00. Therefore:
- You think the KPN share price should increase
- As a result, you want to go long of, or buy, the market at €11.00 and invest £5 per cent
- The share price rises and so the market changes to €11.25 - €11.28
- With this new spread you might choose to guarantee a profit and close your bet. To do this you would sell at €11.25
- Your initial buy price: €11.00
- P&L = (Settlement Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = (€11.25 - €11.00) x £5 per cent
- P&L = €0.25 x £5 per cent
- P&L = 25c x £5 per cent
- P&L = £125 profit
Investments don’t always go to plan. If the trade didn’t work as forecasted, and had the KPN shares decreased in value, with the spread going down to €10.78 - €10.81, then you could decide to close your position and cut your losses by selling at €10.78.
- You initially bought the spread bet at €11.00
- P&L = (Settlement Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = (€10.78 - €11.00) x £5 per cent
- P&L = -€0.22 x £5 per cent
- P&L = -22c x £5 per cent
- P&L = -£110 loss
