1. How to Spread Bet on Metro shares?
Looking at the equities markets, at the moment, the price of the Metro Rolling Daily market is €40.81 - €40.91 with Capital Spreads.
Like most large cap shares listed on the European stock exchanges, an investor can place a spread bet on the Metro shares to rise or fall. With this Metro Rolling Daily market, you can speculate on:
a) Metro shares to increase above €40.91, or
b) Metro shares to decrease below €40.81.
With the Metro market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1c of Metro share movement. As an example, if you invested £4 per cent and the Metro share price moves 5c then that would result in a difference to your bottom line of £20.
Metro Equities Spread Betting Example
For example, let’s say you see the real time price on a spread trading website that gives the spread of €40.81 - €40.91. After your market research, you come to think that the Metro share price will increase and move above €40.91. This implies:
- You think the Metro shares should go up
- Therefore, you decide you want to ‘buy’ the market at €40.91 and you invest £2 per cent
- The price of the shares increases and so the spread changes to €41.50 - €41.60
- With this new price you can choose to take a profit and settle your bet. In order to do this you would sell at €41.50
- Initial price you bought the market at: €40.91
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = (€41.50 - €40.91) x £2 per cent
- P&L = €0.59 x £2 per cent
- P&L = 59c x £2 per cent
- P&L = £118 profit
Nevertheless, if the market failed to move as forecasted, and had the Metro shares decreased in value, with the spread decreasing to €40.36 - €40.46, then you could decide to close your position and stop any more losses. To do this you would sell at €40.36.
- Price you bought the market at: €40.91
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = (€40.36 - €40.91) x £2 per cent
- P&L = -€0.55 x £2 per cent
- P&L = -55c x £2 per cent
- P&L = -£110 loss
