1. How to Spread Bet on Nike shares?
Looking at the equities markets, the current price of the Nike Rolling Daily market is $63.93 - $64.08 with Tradefair.
Like most large cap shares listed on the leading stock exchanges, you can speculate on the Nike shares to rise or fall in value. With the Nike Rolling Daily market, an investor can bet on:
a) Nike shares to rise higher than $64.08, or
b) Nike shares to fall lower than $63.93.
With the Nike market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1¢ of Nike share price movement. As an example, if you had a stake of £2 per cent and the Nike stock moves 5¢ then that would be a difference to your bottom line of £10.
Nike Equities Spread Betting Example
Considering an example, let’s assume you see the real time price on an online spread trading website and it shows a spread of $63.93 - $64.08. Having done your research, you might come to think that the Nike shares will move higher than $64.08. This means:
- You believe that the Nike share price will increase
- You choose to ‘buy’ the market at $64.08 and you invest £1 per cent
- The price of the shares increases and the spread changes to $64.98 - $65.13
- With the new spread you might choose to take a profit and close your position. In order to do this you would sell at $64.98
- You bought the spread bet at $64.08
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = ($64.98 - $64.08) x £1 per cent
- P&L = $0.90 x £1 per cent
- P&L = 90¢ x £1 per cent
- P&L = £90 profit
Investing does not always go to plan. Had the market failed to move as predicted, and had the Nike shares decreased in value, with the market dropping to $63.08 - $63.23, then you can decide to settle your position and prevent any more losses. You would do this by selling at $63.08.
- Price you bought the market at: $64.08
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = ($63.08 - $64.08) x £1 per cent
- P&L = -$1.00 x £1 per cent
- P&L = -100¢ x £1 per cent
- P&L = -£100 loss
