1. How to Spread Bet on PPR shares?
At the time of writing, the price of the PPR Rolling Daily market is €87.10 - €87.40 with capital spreads.
As with many equities listed on the European stock exchanges, investors can bet on the PPR shares to go up or go down. With the PPR Rolling Daily market, an investor can spread bet on:
a) PPR shares to increase above €87.40, or
b) PPR shares to decrease below €87.10.
Note that with the PPR market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1c of PPR share price movement. Considering an example, if you were to invest £2 per cent and the PPR share price moves 5c then your bottom line would alter by £10.
PPR Shares Spread Betting Example
As a quick example, let’s assume you see the live price on a spread trading website and it shows the current spread of €87.10 - €87.40. So, following suitable analysis of the markets, you think that the PPR share price will go above €87.40. This means:
- You think the PPR shares should go up
- As a result, you choose to go long of the market at €87.40 and you invest £1 per cent
- The market increases with the market changing to €88.75 - €89.05
- With this new price you could choose to take a profit and close your bet. In order to do this you would sell at €88.75
- Initial buy price: €87.40
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = (€88.75 - €87.40) x £1 per cent
- P&L = €1.35 x £1 per cent
- P&L = 135c x £1 per cent
- P&L = £135 profit
Spread trading does not always go to plan. If the trade did not move as forecast, and had the PPR shares decreased in price, with the market going down to €86.13 - €86.43, then you may choose to close your position and restrict your losses by selling at €86.13.
- You bought the spread at €87.40
- P&L = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- P&L = (€86.13 - €87.40) x £1 per cent
- P&L = -€1.27 x £1 per cent
- P&L = -127c x £1 per cent
- P&L = -£127 loss
