1. How to Spread Bet on Procter and Gamble shares?
At the moment, the price of the Procter & Gamble Rolling Daily market is $62.09 - $62.18 with spread betting companies such as Paddypowertrader.
As with many shares listed on the leading exchanges, you can place a spread bet on the Procter & Gamble shares to go up or down in value. With the Procter & Gamble Rolling Daily market, an investor can bet on:
a) Procter & Gamble shares to increase above $62.18, or
b) Procter & Gamble shares to decrease below $62.09.
Note that with the Procter & Gamble market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1¢ of Procter & Gamble share movement. As a quick example, if you invested £4 per cent and the Procter & Gamble share price moves 4¢ then that would result in a difference to your P&L of £16.
Procter & Gamble Equities Trading Example
For example, let’s say you see the real time price on a spread betting website and it gives a spread of $62.09 - $62.18. So, having done suitable research, you think that the Procter & Gamble share price could go higher than $62.18. This would mean:
- You think the Procter & Gamble shares should go up
- You decide you are going to go long of the market at $62.18 and you bet £2 per cent
- The share price rises and the spread becomes $62.80 - $62.89
- With this new spread you can decide to guarantee a profit and settle your position by selling at $62.80
- Initial buy price: $62.18
- Profit = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- Profit = ($62.80 - $62.18) x £2 per cent stake
- Profit = $0.62 x £2 per cent stake
- Profit = 62¢ x £2 per cent stake
- Profit = £124 profit
Nevertheless, had the market failed to move as forecast, and had the Procter & Gamble stock decreased in value, with the spread dropping to $61.59 - $61.68, then you might decide to close your bet and stop any more losses. To do this you would sell at $61.59.
- Initial buy price = $62.18
- Loss = (Closing Price - Opening Price) x stake
- Loss = ($61.59 - $62.18) x £2 per cent stake
- Loss = -$0.59 x £2 per cent stake
- Loss = -59¢ x £2 per cent stake
- Loss = -£118 loss
