1. How to Spread Bet on Yahoo shares?
The current price of the Yahoo Rolling Daily market is $15.12 - $15.15 with FinancialSpreads.
Like the majority of leading shares listed on the exchanges, you can speculate on the Yahoo shares to rise or fall in value. With the Yahoo Rolling Daily market, investors can spread bet on:
a) Yahoo shares to go above $15.15, or
b) Yahoo shares to go below $15.12.
It should be noted that with the Yahoo market you trade in £X per cent, where a cent is 1¢ of Yahoo share price movement. As a brief example, if your stake was £6 per cent and the Yahoo stock moves 5¢ then that would result in a difference to your profits (or losses) of £30.
Yahoo Equities Spread Trading Example
For example, let’s assume you see the live price on a spread trading website that shows the current spread of $15.12 - $15.15. Following your market research, you might come to feel that the Yahoo shares is going to move higher than $15.15. This implies:
- You believe the Yahoo share price will go up
- You decide you are going to ‘buy’ the market at $15.15 and you invest £3 per cent
- The share price rises with the spread becoming $15.49 - $15.52
- With this new spread you might choose to guarantee a profit and settle your bet. To do this you would sell at $15.49
- You bought the spread bet at $15.15
- P&L = (Closing Level - Opening Level) x stake
- P&L = ($15.49 - $15.15) x £3 per cent
- P&L = $0.34 x £3 per cent
- P&L = 34¢ x £3 per cent
- P&L = £102 profit
Spread bets don’t always go to plan. Had the market failed to move as forecast, and had the Yahoo shares decreased in price, with the market moving down to $14.78 - $14.81, then you could choose to close your bet and stop any more losses. You would do this by selling at $14.78.
- Your initial buy price: $15.15
- P&L = (Closing Level - Opening Level) x stake
- P&L = ($14.78 - $15.15) x £3 per cent
- P&L = -$0.37 x £3 per cent
- P&L = -37¢ x £3 per cent
- P&L = -£111 loss
