1. How to Spread Bet on the Euro Stoxx?
Currently the Euro Stoxx Index (December) market has a trading price of 2619 - 2622 with FinancialSpreads.

With the Euro Stoxx (December) market, which closes on 18-Dec-09, you can financial spread trade on:
The Euro Stoxx to finish higher than 2622 on 18-Dec-09, or
The Euro Stoxx to finish lower than 2619 on 18-Dec-09.
Note that for the Euro Stoxx value you trade in £X per point, where a point is 1 point of Euro Stoxx movement. eg if your stake was £5 per point and the Euro Stoxx moves 20 points then that would be a £100 difference to your profits/losses.
Euro Stoxx Trading Example
Let's say you check the live quote on an online spread betting service that is currently quoting 2619 – 2622. Let’s also assume that you have done your research and that you think the Euro Stoxx Index will close above 2622 on 18-Dec-09.
- You think the Euro Stoxx should go up
- Therefore, you 'buy' at 2622 and you risk £2 per point
- The value increases so you run the bet to the settlement day
- The market settles at 2670
- Price you bought the market at 2622
- Profit/loss = (closing level - opening level) x stake per point
- Profit/loss = (2670 - 2622) x £2 per point stake
- Profit/loss = 48 x £2 per point stake
- Profit/loss = £96
Of course, if the trade did not work as expected, and had the Euro Stoxx market decreased in value and the market closed down at 2580, you would have made a loss on this spread bet.
- Price you bought the market at 2622
- Profit/loss = (closing price - opening level) x stake per point
- Profit/loss = (2580 - 2622) x £2 per point stake
- Profit/loss = -42 x £2 per point stake
- Profit/loss = -£84
