1. How to Spread Bet on New Zealand Dollar / Swiss Franc?
At the time of writing, the price of the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc Rolling Daily market is SFr 0.7364 - SFr 0.7378 with Tradefair Spreads.
Like most forex rates, you can spread bet on the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc pair to go up or down. With this New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc Rolling Daily market, an investor can speculate on:
a) The New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc rate to move above SFr 0.7378, or
b) The New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc rate to move below SFr 0.7364.
Note that with the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc market you trade in £X per point, where a point is SFr 0.0001 of the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc rate movement. As an example, if you had a stake of £6 per point and the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc market were to move by SFr 0.0005 then that would result in a difference to your P&L of £30. SFr 0.0005 = 5 points. 5 points x £6 per point = £30.
New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc Foreign Exchange Spread Betting Example
For example, let’s say you see the live price on a spread trading website and it shows a spread of SFr 0.7364 - SFr 0.7378. After your analysis of the markets, you could come to feel that the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc pair will go higher than SFr 0.7378. As a result:
- You believe that the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc FX pair will rise
- You decide you are going to go long of the market at SFr 0.7378 and risk £3 per point
- The cross rate increases and so the market changes to SFr 0.7422 - SFr 0.7436
- As a result, you can choose to take your profit and settle your bet. In order to do this you would sell at SFr 0.7422
- Price you bought the market at: SFr 0.7378
- Profits (or losses) = (Final Price - Initial Price) x stake
- Profits (or losses) = (SFr 0.7422 - SFr 0.7378) x £3 per point
- Profits (or losses) = SFr 0.0044 x £3 per point
- Profits (or losses) = 44 points x £3 per point
- Profits (or losses) = £132 profit
Investing does not always go to plan. If the trade did not work as predicted, and had the New Zealand Dollar/Swiss Franc cross rate decreased in price, with the market dropping to SFr 0.7337 - SFr 0.7351, then you can decide to close your bet and restrict your losses by selling at SFr 0.7337.
- You initially bought the spread bet at SFr 0.7378
- Profits (or losses) = (Final Price - Initial Price) x stake
- Profits (or losses) = (SFr 0.7337 - SFr 0.7378) x £3 per point
- Profits (or losses) = -SFr 0.0041 x £3 per point
- Profits (or losses) = -41 points x £3 per point
- Profits (or losses) = -£123 loss
